Sanam  Saeed discussed how Pakistani generations are familiar with Indian culture in an interview. I prefer to binge-watch Hollywood movies, she declared. However, from our grandparents to now, the entire population of Pakistan has grown up watching Bollywood films. As a result, we are familiar with Madhubala, Kareena Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone. Every generation has been observed by us. Bollywood, the music, the dance, the culture, the way they perform puja, and the way they eat, are things that we have practically grown up with. India’s events are known to us. What occurs in Pakistan, however, is unknown to India.

Indians are unaware of our eating and living habits, she continued. There are a few minor variations in how we tie our hair and wear salwar kameez. We are aware of the distinction.

She was questioned by Mid-day about her desire to work in Bollywood. The actor retorted, “A lot of things that were supposed to work out didn’t when the political environment shifted. For many of us, the desire waned with time. Bollywood is one of the largest industries in the world, and has much-loved directors.”

“I always wanted to do Bollywood and Broadway, but after the change of political situation, the bubble burst for us. I am (grateful) for OTT platforms because they have helped us grow professionally,” she continued.

Sanam added, “I am grateful that something that was done a decade ago continues to be a hit,” when discussing Zindagi Gulzar Hai’s comeback to Indian television.

The show was created with a female gaze and had a great Jane Austen vibe of a strong, independent woman, she said. I still care about the character.

She discussed her plans for Bollywood earlier this year at the premiere of Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam’s trailer.

“I am open to working in Indian films, not television. I prefer TV on this side of the border. There are so many genres of films I want to work in, so many actors I would like to collaborate with.” She added, “But to start with, Aamir Khan is someone I would like to work with.”

“We know how India is, we have watched their films. But they didn’t know how we look and what our lives are like. So it was eye-opening for them. We look the same, eat the same food, we are practically brothers and sisters,” she stated.

The Zindagi Gulzar Hai diva had already been asked to Mumbai to try out for Raees with Shah Rukh Khan, but she declined because she was getting married. Mahira Khan later landed the part. Talking about this she said, “I wasn’t offered Raees, I auditioned for it, along with several other films from across the border. I have no qualms with working in Bollywood. If the script is substantial and the team top notch in the game, only then I’ll take up a project.”
