When Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were cast in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, they drew a lot of attention. Ranveer Singh broke the news on social media, posting a video of the cast and crew getting ready to start filming for the Karan Johar-directed film, and he seemed ecstatic about it.
Ranveer and Alia were seen visiting the sets with director Karan Johar as they prepared to start filming the video. The video also showed the two preparing for their various roles, whether it was for the make-up look or the dancing performance. Sharing the news, the Gully Boy star wrote, “Shuru ho gayi hai yeh anokhi kahani of Rocky & Rani. Toh dijiye humein apna aashirvaad aur pyaar, aur chaliye iss safar mein hamaare saath!”
On the other hand, Karan Johar also shared the same video on his social media account and sought everyone’s pyaar and aashirvaad for the new journey.
“The day is finally here & I have so many feelings going on in my head but what emerges at the top is – gratitude! As we begin our kahani ka first schedule, seeking all your pyaar & aashirvaad! It’s time to roll,” he added.

On July 6, Karan announced the project on Twitter, writing: “Thrilled to get behind the lens with my favorite people in front of it! Presenting Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, headlined by none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy.” He will direct the film, which is scheduled to release in 2022.
In terms of Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, it will be Ranveer and Alia’s second collaboration after Gully Boy. Aside from the two, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi will play pivotal roles in the film.
