The world’s biggest online retailer Amazon has announced on Monday that it would be hiring 100,000 more workers in the United States as part of its fourth hiring spree of 2020 to cope up with the jump in demand for e-commerce during the pandemic.

According to the details, Amazon in its announcement said  the positions are for full and part-time work in the US and Canada.

Furthermore these positions will include roles at 100 new warehouse and operations sites it is opening this month.

The Seattle-based company employed 876,800 people as of June 30.

In addition to this, the reports said that Amazon is also looking into auto-motion.

Vice president of Amazon related to global customer fulfillment said: “We will continue to deploy technology where appropriate, starting from a safety perspective”.

Moreover she said that world’s biggest online retailer Amazon “can improve its overall operation” and will try to do so using technology where possible.

Boler Davis said she did not know whether automation means fewer jobs per warehouse but said Amazon uses its systems for collaboration with people.
