The official drug regulator states that FDA has to decide whether or not to make new vaccines, as the vaccine makers need to avoid any other possible surge in cases this fall.

A decision needs to be made by June in order to have shots available in the fall, according to Dr. Peter Marks, who leads the Food and Drug Administration office. He says that U.S. could face another wave of infection, as the immunity from the current vaccine dwindles, and the virus will continue to effect and evolve again.

The concern is to focus on the correct COVID variants and update the shots.

FDA advisory panel says that public health authorities should play unified and create an updated and significant dose for well-being.

Dr. Paul Offit, an FDA committee member, says the CDC needs to determine when the vaccines are no longer effective against severe illness, so the FDA and National Institutes of Health can know the approach to implement.

The FDA creates its own composition, after the recommendation by World Health Organization, each year. Yet, the uncertainty of the disease makes it difficult to predict the flu, or even if it needs to change a bit from the previous one.

Bedford, a virologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, expects that the spike protein will keep evolving that can diminish the effectiveness of the vaccine. It is inconspicuous if the new wave will follow a seasonal pattern similar to flu.

Scientists have not yet determined if the vaccine caters absolute protection against the infectious disease.

According to scientists and physicians, sufficient data is not provided to support additional shots, the authorities are gathering data, in order to accquire transparent understanding for the production of vaccines.
