Cement sales and exports in Pakistan grew strongly in the first quarter of the current financial year, reaching 12.161 million tons compared to 10.461 million tons in the same period last year, showing a rise of 16.25%.
According to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association, domestic sales were 9.573 million tons, up 15.08% from 8.319 million tons last year. Exports also went up by 20.81%, reaching 2.589 million tons compared to 2.143 million tons in the same period of the previous year.
Cement dispatches had strong month-on-month growth in July and August, but in September 2025, growth slowed to 7.05%. Total sales in September were 4.25 million tons compared to 3.97 million tons last year. Local sales in September stood at 3.418 million tons, up 14.38% from last year, while exports dropped by 15.25%, falling to 831,966 tons from 981,646 tons.
In September, north-based mills sold 3.162 million tons, up 16.41%, while south-based mills dispatched 1.09 million tons, which was 13.23% less than last year. Domestic sales in the north rose by 17.02% to 2.941 million tons, while the south’s local sales were nearly unchanged at 476,465 tons.
Exports from the north rose by 8.84% to 221,252 tons, but exports from the south fell sharply by 21.54% to 610,714 tons. In the July-September period, north-based mills sold 8.01 million tons locally, up 13.65%, and their exports grew by 30.49% to 661,866 tons. Overall, their total dispatches increased by 14.78% to 8.672 million tons.
The association’s spokesperson said that the industry could perform even better if concessions on duties and taxes were given, which would also help reduce costs for consumers.
