Green Peoples bus service introduced in Turbat

The system is expected to serve around 4,500 passengers daily.

The government of Balochistan has introduced the Green Peoples Bus Service in Turbat, making it the second city in the province after Quetta to receive the modern public transport facility. The initiative aims to provide residents with safe, comfortable, and efficient transportation while improving urban mobility in the region.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti inaugurated the service at the Circuit House Turbat. The ceremony was attended by several provincial ministers, including Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Mir Asghar Rind, and Asim Kurd Gello, along with other officials and representatives.

Speaking at the event, Bugti said the service has been introduced to offer modern, secure, and dependable transportation to citizens, making daily travel easier for residents. He described the project as an important step toward improving the urban transport system in the province.

“This service will benefit not only the people of Turbat but also residents across the entire Kech District,” Bugti said, acknowledging the contributions of Buledi and other lawmakers from the district.

The chief minister also announced plans to introduce a Pink Bus Service exclusively for women to ensure safer and more convenient travel for female passengers.

According to officials, the new buses are fitted with modern features and can seat 37 passengers, with space for up to 100 people including standing commuters. In the first phase, four buses have been allocated for Turbat.

Authorities plan to build 18 bus stations across the city, with the service operating on a 19-kilometre route linking Turbat with nearby suburban areas. The system is expected to serve around 4,500 passengers daily.

The buses include reserved seating for women, children, and senior citizens, as well as wheelchair access, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and automatic hydraulic doors. Digital screens inside and outside the buses display route details and bus numbers.

Officials said the final routes and fares will be determined after evaluating travel distances. A proposal is also under review to offer free travel for passengers during the first two years of the service.
