COVID-19 spreads way to Prime Minister House, four staff members tested positive

Prime Minister House in Islamabad became the latest victim of novel coronavirus after four of its members reportedly tested positive.

Media reports said that the novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19 has spread its way to the Prime Minister’s house as well. Four of its staff members have tested positive for the dread virus that has killed more than 800 people in the country, infecting more than 40000 since February 26 this year.

Reports said that coronavirus tests of the PM House staff were carried out, after which four staff members’ results came back positive. The infected staff members are now being kept in quarantine.

Furthermore Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Special Assistant to PM for political communication, has clarified in a tweet that this is a regular activity in which check-ups are carried out on the staff of the PM Office and all other important offices. He further clarified that the infected staff members had not been in direct contact with any major government official.

Let it be known that, Social Activist and Chairman Edhi Foundation Faisal Edhi who met Prime Minister Imran Khan in his office this year in April, also tested positive for the novel coronavirus. However, he was recovered on 6th of this month after being self quarantined.

Pakistan Coronavirus Update:

The number of confirmed cases in Pakistan due to novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19 has passed the tally of 40, 000 with 873 deaths.

National Command and Operations Centre  (NCOC)  stated in its latest figures that in the past 24 hours, at least 39 people battling for their lives could stand against the deadly virus, taking the national toll to 873. Sindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Till now 14,584 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 15,590 in Sindh, 5,847 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,544 in Balochistan, 947 in Islamabad, 527 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 112 in Azad Kashmir. The federal capital Islamabad recorded 26 new cases, while nine were detected in GB. AJK recorded four new cases.
