Pakistan witnesses 87 percent reduction in COVID-19 related deaths

State Health Minister Dr Zafar Mirza on Monday confirmed that Pakistan has witnessed 87 percent reduction in Coronavirus related deaths.

He took to his official twitter handle, and said:

Today, Alhamdolilah, we have the lowest number of deaths in Pakistan due to COVID-19 in last 3 months. We had a peak of 153 deaths on 20 June and in last 24 hours we had 20. This is 87% reduction in COVID-19 related deaths. Yet no place for any complacency!

On the other hand, The number of recoveries from COVID-19 continue to increase across the country with 241,026 patients so far recovered from the disease.

According to the latest data, 1176 new coronavirus cases were reported in the country during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 274,289.

These include 118,311 in Sindh,

92,073 in Punjab,

33,397 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,

11,601 in Balochistan,

14,884 in Islamabad,

1,989 Gilgit-Baltistan and 2,034 in Azad Kashmir.

Meanwhile, 20 patients died of the virus during the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 5,842. 22,056 corona tests were carried out during this period.

World Acknowledges Pakistan’s smart lockdown

The world is widely acknowledging Pakistan’s smart lockdown strategy in the face of Covid-19, mainly focusing balance between lives and livelihood.

Prime Minister Imran Khan shared a report citing that country witnessed a steep decline from around 6,800 patients a day in mid-June to 1,209 cases during the last 24 hours.

The Prime Minister also expressed optimism that recently announced construction industry incentive package will provide relief to daily wagers, who suffered due to lockdown.

He said four mega projects of National Highways worth 289 billion rupees will bring development and prosperity in different parts of the country besides improving connectivity.

Coronavirus Global Cases

The number of coronavirus cases across the world has crossed sixteen point four million while the pandemic has claimed more than 652,000 lives so far.

The United States the worse hit, where cases have mounted over four point three million and death toll reached over 149,000.

In Brazil, over two point four million cases and more than 87,000 deaths have been reported so far.

More than ten million patients have recovered from the disease across the world.
