Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi replied to DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor‘s tweet criticizing the negative message of his upcoming show, ‘Bard of Blood’.

The mixed reaction came from Bollywood fans in India and Pakistan when the trailer for ‘Bard of Blood’ released.

The Netflix show, set in the plains of Baluchistan, tells the tale of a RAW agent (played by Hashmi) who takes out militants in Pakistan.

The show was slammed by DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor in a tweet when its trailer was released.

Amid all this DG ISPR, tweeted that Shahrukh Khan, who is the series producer, should focus on highlighting human rights issues in India rather than promote Islamophobia.

He took a dig at the producer of the show, Shah Rukh Khan, to come and see the reality of spy Kulbhushan Jadhav languishing in a Pakistani jail.

“Stay in Bollywood syndrome. For reality see RAW Spy Kulbhushan Jadev, Wing Comd Abhinandan & state of 27 Feb 2019. You could rather promote peace & humanity by speaking against atrocities in IOJ&K and against Hindituva of Nazism obsessed RSS,” he tweeted.

Now, Emraan Hashmi has replied to Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor, claiming that his tweet spread hatred and that there was no propaganda in the show.

Emran Hashmi said, “I think that one tweet led to other people spewing hate. But to put things to rest, there is no propaganda here. This is based on a book that is written by a [then-] 20-year-old kid back in 2014.”

“The political climate at that point of time was very different. There is no agenda to it. Our show is based on that book and that’s that. You can’t please everyone. You make a show of this nature, which has some kind of political relevance, and it going to snowball and you will have people talking. Everyone has an opinion these days,” he said.
