
Seasoned actor Sohail Asghar passed away on Saturday
Veteran actor Sohail Asghar passed away today after fighting a year and a half-long illness. The seasoned actor also underwent surgery last year following gastric issues. The actor took a break from acting to tend to his health and was admitted to the hospital last week as his health deteriorated.
Born in Multan, Sohail Asghar started his career as an RJ at Radio Pakistan in 1978. He then switched to theatre and was chosen for Piyaas in 1988 which made him an overnight star. Three years later he was part of NTM’s first private production from Karachi Chand Girhan where his character Jahania Shah overshadowed prominent actors including Shafi Muhammad, Qazi Wajid and Huma Nawab. He swiftly went on to become one of the finest actors the industry had. He also marked his film debut in 2003 with Murad.
The seasoned professional was last seen in Khafa Khafa Zindagi and Mere Khudaya in 2018. Known for dramas like Laag and Kajal Ghar, Asghar also participated in the remake of Khuda Ki Basti. He relocated to Karachi in the latter part of his career and has saddened his friends with the final exit.
