Watch: During her ‘American Idol’ performance, Katy Perry’s pants split

On “American Idol,” Katy Perry was singing the perfect song for a wardrobe malfunction.

Perry improvised an impromptu version of her classic song “Teenage Dream” on Monday’s programme when she bent down in a dance move and split her jeans at the seam.

“Can I get some tape?” Katy Perry requested, as the stunned audience looked on.

After Perry directed them to “Tape my butt,” crew workers used yellow duct tape to patch the area over her butt.

The judge from “American Idol” then apologised and returned to her seat at the table.

“Ima get ur heart racing in my skin-tight jeans on #americanidol tonight tune in now for a RIPPING good time,” Perry wrote on Instagram in response to the event.

“Each season you rip your pants,” one fan said, adding a smiling emoji.
