At Sandhurst, Kate Middleton is set to take over the Queen’s military duties

The Duchess of Cambridge may stand in for Her Majesty at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s Sovereign’s Parade, which royal insight believes is an indication she may soon become a royal colonel.

The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to stand in for the Queen at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s Sovereign’s Parade.

Kate would be saluting at the academy where her husband, Prince William, received his commission as an officer in 2006.

On the occasion of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, it is also thought to be a welcome homage to Her Majesty, the leader of the military services.

Kate apparently said: “I love the uniform. It’s so sexy.”

Because of the Queen’s health, senior Royals have recently taken her place at her normal appointments, and because future obligations will fall on the future wife of the King, this is regarded to be a foreshadowing of things to come.

The Duchess of Sandhurst’s appointment is considered as a strong indicator that she will be given an honorary military role soon, such as colonel-in-chief of a regiment, which the Queen will be engaged in selecting.

Kate is expected to succeed Prince Andrew, who was stripped of his military honours, as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards, according to the Daily Mail.

In another remarkable milestone, the Duchess will become the regiment’s first female colonel in its 366-year history.

“It’s being seriously explored,” a top Royal source told the tabloid.

Prince Wiliam has taken his wife to military functions with the Irish Guards, of which he is Colonel, and she has attended medal parades and regimental celebrations with him, so she is familiar with the formalities.
