Hugh Jackman discusses his deportation fears following his role as Wolverine in the ‘X-Men’ franchise
Hugh Jackman tells a humorous story about how his prior role as Wolverine in the X-Men saved him from deportation.
During his visit on Jimmy Kimmel’s Tonight Show, the actor chimed in on everything.
The event occurred near the Los Angeles-Toronto border, where the 2000 X-Men film was being filmed.
Jackman recalls a set worker urging him to lie about completing auditions before crossing through customs without a visa.
“I’m like, sweating profusely, and I literally said, ‘No, no, this isn’t an audition.'” ‘I’m the right person for the job.’ I’ve just shattered. “It was pathetic,” he reflected on the situation.
Only after the actor informed his agency that he was auditioning for the live-action adaptation did the agent arrange for a police escort, but not before having him sign autographs.
“He was a die-hard ‘X-Men’ fan, and that’s the only way I got the part,” Jackman said.
