LONDON: Momin Saqib has returned to London for a variety of reasons. He intends to continue his studies and work at King’s College London, but he is also touring the UK with the cast and crew of his debut film, Dum Mastam.

The film has received positive reviews, and Momin Saqib is being praised in particular for bringing his distinct style to the big screen. His viral cricket clips, “dil ro raha hai mera” and “maro mujhe maro,” sparked a tsunami of memes and catapulted the former King’s College Students’ Union President to viral fame overnight.

He was offered roles in dramas, which became hits, but only a small group of people are aware that he was offered a role in Dum Mastam much earlier.

In the film, he collaborated with Imran Ashraf, Amar Khan, and other notable actors, including Adnan Siddiqui, who also serves as the film’s producer. The film was directed by Mohammad Ehteshamuddin.

Due to a large diaspora audience, Dum Mastam was released on Eid and is now being shown across the UK and other countries internationally.

Not one, but three talented actors make their feature film debuts: Imran Ashraf, Amar Khan, and Momin Saqib.

Interestingly, this was Saqib’s first project as an actor, and he has proven himself as a force to be reckoned with, capturing everyone’s attention with a debut performance that exceeded expectations.

Guddu Razor, the antagonist, was played by Saqib. The flamboyant singer has a loud, narcissistic personality and considers himself indispensable.

His expressions and dialogue rendering surprised me, with on-point nuances displaying envy fuelled by insecurities about being overshadowed. He has done full justice to the character’s demands, with the help of Adnan Shah Tipu.

Despite only a few previous acting projects under his belt, Saqib has quickly established himself as a rising star in a short period of time, and this shines through in the film.

In comparison to previous television roles in projects such as Raqs-e-Bismil and Dil Ke Chor, Momin Saqib’s film debut demonstrates his range and versatility as an actor among a much more senior cast.

The protagonists of Dum Mastam, Imran Ashraf as the madly in love and endearing Bao and Amar Khan as the overambitious dream-chaser Aliya, had many layers that played out perfectly in the rollercoaster-like screenplay, which was strongly supported by Saleem Mairaj.

Saqib has long been recognised for his achievements as an international student at the prestigious King’s College London, as well as his work as an educationalist in the United Kingdom, including student politics and activism. Saqib, on the other hand, became an overnight sensation after his “Maro Mujhe Maro” reaction video went viral following the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

In addition to his truly diverse and multifaceted personality, Saqib’s work extends beyond education and entertainment. His charitable efforts earned him awards from the Commonwealth and Points of Light, as well as praise from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

He has been actively working on projects in the blockchain technology and NFT sector, utilising expertise gained through a background in Computer Science.

Momin Saqib told our correspondent that it feels good to be back in London. “I began my career in this city.” I came here as a student, but London is the city that gave me my first break. “I got my start in student government here, and the rest is history.”

During his current tour with other actors in Pakistan and the United Kingdom, he said he was able to meet thousands of fans. “I am grateful to my fans for their support, affection, and interest in my film.” They helped me with my first drama and now this film.”

Working in dramas and films, according to Momin Saqib, are two different things. In terms of his experience, he stated that working in two different genres has been eye-opening for him.
