Barack and Michelle Obama includes in a new Netflix comedy-thriller series will be filmed in Co Cork, serving as executive producers.
Bodkin (working title) is set to premiere next week, starring Will Forte (Saturday Night Live), Robyn Cara (Trying), Siobhán Cullen (The Dry), David Wilmot (Ripper Street), and Chris Walley among the cast (The Young Offenders).

It is billed as “a darkly comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town”.
“But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined,” the synopsis continues.
“As our heroes try to discern fact from fiction – about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves – the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.”

Through their firm Higher Ground, Barack and Michelle Obama are executive producers on the new series, which says it is “ecstatic” to be working on “this wickedly funny thriller” as its first scripted series.
David Flynn, a Dubliner, is also an executive producer. He’s a member of the production company wiip (Mare of Easttown, Toast of Tinseltown), which is teaming up with Higher Ground and Netflix to bring the new show to life.
