• Raised by Wolves, a sci-fi series on HBO Max, has been cancelled after two seasons.
• Netflix series, which features Ridley Scott as an executive producer, came to a close.
• HBO Max stated It was the service’s top-performing original series, although it could not provide specific data

As HBO Max stated in a statement, “While we are not proceeding with a third season of Raised by Wolves, we are beyond grateful to the stellar cast and crew, our creators Aaron Guzikowski, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, and the entire team at Scott Free Productions, for their beautiful artistry and unique ability to immerse fans into the world of Kepler-22b.”

The cancellation also coincides with WarnerMedia’s and Discovery’s merger to establish Warner Bros. Discovery. The David Zalslav-led media conglomerate has shutdown streaming service CNN+ since the merger, while TNT, TBS, and TruTV general manger Brett Weitz resigned after his position was dissolved.

In recent years, scripted development at the so-called TNets has dropped dramatically, with several projects that were once scheduled for cable channels — such as Raised by Wolves — turning up on streaming services. Demimonde, produced by J.J. Abrams, is also on the verge of being cancelled, with Zaslav apparently dissatisfied with the lack of output from Abrams’ Bad Robot’s $250 million overall agreement with WarnerMedia in 2019.

In a series of tweets on Friday, Raised by Wolves cast member Abubakar Salim hinted at the show’s fate, saying, “It’s not surprising, especially after the news of the mergers and what is happening at Warner, that a lot of shows are not having their stories finished. And unfortunately, one of those shows is Raised by Wolves.”  Salim then urged supporters of the show to lobby for a new home for it on another platform.

Guzikowski is a producer. Scott (through his Scott Free firm), David W. Zucker, Jordan Sheehan, Adam Kolbrenner, and Mark Huffam are among the cast members of Raised by Wolves.
