BLACKPINK, the female musical band creates a history with their latest new album, “BORN PINK.”

On September 16 at 1 p.m. KST, the well-known South Korean septet released BORN PINK, their eagerly anticipated and well-publicized second full-length album. The group played the song with that name, Shut Down.

The title tune and the album both quickly climbed to the top of the music charts across the globe after their releases.

The album became the first by a female band in K-Pop history to sell over a million copies on its first day of release, with Hanteo Chart reporting an astonishing total of 1,011,266 copies sold on the first day of sale.

Following the well-known male Korean bands BTS and SEVENTEEN, BLACKPINK has now surpassed them in terms of overall first-day sales.

Four women make up the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK: Lisa, Rose, Jennie, and Jisoo. Additionally, they were the first K-pop group to exceed 1 billion YouTube views.
