Satish Kaushik admires Neena Gupta for living on her own terms

Satish Kaushik, who has known actor Neena Gupta for a very long time, has nothing but kind words to say about her. Both Satish and Neena are National School of Drama alums who have collaborated on movies like Mandi and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, but their bond existed long before they were coworkers. About his upcoming film Kaagaz 2, which stars Neena, Satish discussed working with her again and shared some of the qualities he finds admirable in her.

Kaushik complimented Neena for choosing her own path in life and influencing others to accept her as she is. Prior to this, Neena and Satish had disclosed how he had proposed to her after she became pregnant in the 1980s while she was dating former cricketer Sir Vivian Richards. Despite being touched by his offer, Neena declined and raised her daughter Masaba Gupta alone.

Satish expressed admiration for Neena for consistently standing up for herself. Disclosing their collaboration on Kaagaz 2 together with Anupam Kher, he said, “With Anupam, we have been working on and off together but with Neena, I am working after almost 13 years. She is a very old friend of mine. We knew each other before our college days, as we both used to live in Karol Bagh in Delhi and had a kind of same upbringing.”

The actor-filmmaker added, “Neena has always stood for herself in a society which did not accept a lot of things back then. She lived on her own terms and made society accept her as she is and that is something I have always admired in her.”

The film Nirnnayakam from Malayalam was remade as Kaagaz 2. (2015). Additionally, it is the follow-up to the biographical comedy movie from 2021 with the same name that was written, directed, and produced by Satish with Salman Khan and Nishant Kaushik under the names Salman Khan Films and The Satish Kaushik Entertainment Production. Pankaj Tripathi and Monal Gajjar were among the stars of Kaagaz, while Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Darshan Kumaar, and other actors are featured in Kaagaz 2.
