The highlighted new teaser for Netflix series, Copenhagen Cowboy is out. The six-episode story, which is set to launch in early January, revolves around a lady who delves into Denmark’s criminal underbelly in quest of vengeance.

Although famed filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn is recognised for his signature use of neon lights throughout his productions, there’s a lot more to the Danish director’s work once you decide to embark on a voyage guided by him.

This is highlighted in the new teaser for his Netflix series, Copenhagen Cowboy. The six-episode story, which is set to launch in early January, revolves around a lady who delves into Denmark’s criminal underbelly in quest of vengeance.

The new Copenhagen Cowboy video promises to include several recurring features from Winding Refn’s body of work, such as odd images, offbeat topics, and a supernatural undertone.

The video makes it clear that the series will record a revenge story, but the manner in which it is conveyed may test our understanding of storytelling due to ambiguous times, locales, and character actions.

The series is especially significant for Winding Refn because it is his first project in his hometown and his first in Danish since becoming a household figure in the independent film scene after directing the Ryan Gosling-led thriller Drive.

“With Copenhagen Cowboy, I am returning to my past to build my future by producing a series, an enlargement of my always shifting alter-egos, now in the form of my young heroine, Miu,” the director said.

Aside from writing and directing Drive, Winding Refn has also directed cult classics such as Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon.

The Danish filmmaker has already collaborated with Netflix, creating, writing, and directing the miniseries Too Old to Die Young, which stars Miles Teller, Jena Malone, and John Hawkes. The next Maniac Cop, assuming it hits theatres in 2023, will be his first feature film in seven years.

Sara Isabella Jönsson (Miss Osaka), Johanne Algren (Kamikaze), and Mona Masri co-wrote Copenhagen Cowboy (Snabba Cash). Angela Bundalovic and Lola Corfixen star as the leads, with Zlatko Buric, Andreas Lykke Jrgensen, Jason Hendil-Forssell, LiIi Zhang, and Dragana Milutinovic as supporting characters.

Copenhagen Cowboy will be available on Netflix on January 5.
