The Academy on Tuesday presented its shortlists for the Oscars 2023 in 10 categories, including documentary and foreign films as well as a documentary short subject, among others, as anticipation for the Oscars 2023 grows. The 92 nations represented by the foreign films up for consideration are RRR and The Last Film Show from India.

As the Best Original Song shortlist has also been made public. The list of 15 songs also includes Rihanna’s Wakanda Forever, Lift Me Up song for Black Panther. Lady Gaga has also received a nomination for Top Gun: Maverick’s Hold My Hand. Carolina from Where the Crawdads Sing, a song by Taylor Swift, has also been nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.

RRR, one of India’s top films since 2022, has advanced for Oscar nomination in one category only. In the Best Original Song Category, the song Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR has made the shortlist. In the international feature film category, India’s Last Film Show has made progress and now faces off against titles like Decision to Leave from South Korea, Joyland from Pakistan, and others.
