Lindsay Ell canadian country singer shared details of her journey in a post on Instagram on Monday. She referred to her most recent appearance on Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe, where she first discussed her current situation.

Ell said, “We do that here. I was on a podcast last week and I shared something that I felt like I should share with all of you. I recently learned that I have an eating disorder and have accepted the fact that I have been denying it for the better part of 20 years.

She discussed how her viewpoint on common misunderstandings about disordered eating, such as those relating to attractiveness, has altered.

She recalled telling herself, “I always persuaded myself that an eating problem would look like ‘that kind of physique’ and that there was no way I could have one because I did not look like that. I justified my lifestyle to myself by saying that it was only a necessary component of my job.

However: “I felt as like it was taking control of my life at one point, and I had no more control over what I ate or did not consume in secret. In public, I got pretty skilled at acting like everything was fine, but at home, I was shriveling away.”
