Prince William became the godfather of Greek prince at young age
Many of us can only wish to have a member of the Royal Family as a godparent. Only a select few are able to do so, and only three are said to be fortunate enough to call Prince William their godfather.
The Prince of Wales has three known godchildren and began his role as a godfather at the age of 16 in 1999, when he became a godfather to Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark.
Constantine was born in New York City on October 29, 1998, and is the eldest son of Greece’s Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal. He is also the grandson of the late King Constantine II, who died at the age of 82 earlier this year.
He was joined by younger brothers Prince Achileas-Andreas, Prince Odysseas-Kimon, and Prince Aristidis-Stavros after his elder sister Princess Maria-Olympia died.
On April 15, 1999, Constantine was christened in a Greek Orthodox ceremony at St Sophia’s Cathedral in Bayswater, London, by a number of famous godparents, including Prince William, King Felipe VI of Spain, and the Crown Prince of Denmark.
Many people remember the ceremony because Prince William, who was only 16 at the time, was wearing his arm in a sling after undergoing surgery to repair a broken finger sustained during a rugby match.
Because the Greek monarchy was abolished in the 1970s, the family divided their time between the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as other European countries.
When Prince Constantine was young, his family lived in London, and he began his education at Wetherby Preparatory School in Notting Hill, which Prince William attended from 1987 to 1990.
Later, he attended Wellington College in Berkshire, graduating in 2017, before going on to study at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
The prince has many interests, including painting and sculpting, both of which are frequently inspired by Greek mythology.
He will never have to worry about financial problems in the future because he is estimated to be worth $300 million.
Constantine was most recently seen with his grandmother, parents, and four siblings at his grandfather’s funeral in Athens earlier this year.
