In “St. Denis Medical,” a comedy pilot for NBC from “Superstore” and “American Auto” writer Justin Spitzer, Allison Tolman has been cast.

The pilot is billed as a mockumentary about a struggling, understaffed hospital in Oregon, where the caring staff members do their best to provide care for patients while also keeping their own sanity.

Tolman will play Alex, a supervising nurse in the emergency room at St. Denis who is committed to giving her patients good treatment and frequently sacrifices her personal life to uphold her high standards.

Tolman recently played the recurring part of Winnie McLendon in the Starz limited series “Gaslit,” which is inspired on the Watergate incident. She also received nominations for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance as Molly Solverson in Season 1 of FX’s “Fargo,” which garnered her a Critics Choice Award. She has also been on “Why Women Murder” on Paramount+ and “Emergence” and “Downward Dog” on ABC. She has acted in the movies “The Gift,” “Krampus,” “The Home,” and “Killing Gunther.”

UTA, Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, and Ziffren Brittenham are her agents.

Wendi McLendon-Covey, who plays Joyce in “St. Denis Medical,” had previously been confirmed as a cast member. Former oncological physician and executive director of St. Denis Joyce has lofty goals for the hospital’s future, but those goals aren’t yet being fulfilled.
