Eddie Redmayne has been cast in “The Day of the Jackal,” the planned remake of the Frederick Forsyth book and the Universal movie of the same name from Peacock and Sky. The thriller series will also have him as executive producer.

Redmayne will play the Jackal, an assassin hired by the OAS, a group of French dissidents, to assassinate Charles de Gaulle, who was the president of France at the time.

Redmayne recently appeared in “The Good Nurse” on Netflix alongside Jessica Chastain. He also won the Oscar for best actor for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in James Marsh’s 2014 biopic “The Theory of Everything.” The “Fantastic Beasts” movies, “The Danish Girl,” “The Trial of the Chicago Seven,” “Les Miserables,” and other well-known projects that Redmayne has worked on.
