Arijit Singh, the renowned Indian musician celebrated for his extensive contributions to Bollywood music, has officially overtaken pop culture icon Taylor Swift to become the most-followed artist globally on Spotify.

This week, Singh reached an impressive milestone of over 118.8 million followers on the streaming platform, with Swift closely trailing at around 118.78 million.

Notably, Singh had briefly surpassed Swift in follower count around this time last year, though the American star quickly regained her top position, according to The Indian Express.

Singh’s popularity has seen significant growth over the years. He previously made history as the first Indian singer to achieve 100 million listens on Spotify.

Both Singh and Swift lead the charts, surpassing other major artists like Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, and BTS. A.R. Rahman is the only other Indian artist in the top 20, currently holding the 20th spot.
