Kareena Kapoor recently discussed the issue of pay equality in Bollywood, emphasizing her desire to receive the same compensation as her male colleagues, including the three Khans and her husband, Saif Ali Khan.
In an interview with NDTV, she explained her approach to securing equal pay, stating, “No means no, so now it’s a time when you feel if this is not worthy enough for my character or worthy enough for myself, I’m not going to do it.” She added that she is committed to proving her worth in the industry, saying, “The ₹1,000 crore club? Koshish toh jari hai (I’ve been trying).”
Kareena also shared advice for young women, saying, “For young girls of today, saying no should not make them feel that they’re not confident.” She believes that being self-assured and knowing one’s worth is essential, emphasizing that “no as an answer should be something reassuring.”
This isn’t the first time Kareena has spoken out for pay parity. In the early 2000s, she sought equal pay to Shah Rukh Khan for a role in Kal Ho Naa Ho, but was replaced by Preity Zinta after the negotiation. Kareena has starred alongside all three Khans in various films and will next appear with Ajay Devgn in Singham Again.
