Angelina Jolie opens home to wildfire evacuees, aiding friends
As wildfires continue to ravage California, Angelina Jolie is taking action to help those affected. According to a source speaking to PEOPLE, the 49-year-old actress has opened her home to friends forced to evacuate from the Los Angeles area.
“Angie is heartbroken for those who have lost their homes, or are impacted by the fires,” the source revealed. “She’s doing everything she can to help, even opening her home to friends who were forced to evacuate.”
The wildfires, which began in the Pacific Palisades on January 7, have caused widespread destruction, reportedly ranking among Los Angeles’ most destructive in history.
Officials report that the fires have destroyed over 10,000 structures, displaced more than 80,000 people, and caused 11 confirmed deaths, as per the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner.
Jolie is not the only celebrity stepping up to assist during this crisis. Halle Berry announced on Instagram that she is collaborating with Sharon Stone to donate her “entire closet” to help those who lost basic necessities in the fires.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also opened their home to evacuees, while Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest’s family pledged $1 million to wildfire relief efforts.
