In a blog post on Tuesday, the 64-year-old Sandman author expressed “horror and dismay” at the allegations. He wrote, “I’ve stayed quiet until now, both out of respect for the people who were sharing their stories and out of a desire not to draw even more attention to a lot of misinformation.”
Gaiman admitted to being “careless with people’s hearts and feelings,” saying, “I could have and should have done so much better… I deeply regret it.” He also stated some claims were “distorted” or “simply never happened.”
The allegations have impacted several projects, including Good Omens season three and a film adaptation of The Graveyard Book. Gaiman concluded, “I’m learning and trying to do the work needed. I know that’s not an overnight process.”
