Gil Gerard, the American actor best remembered for playing the lead role in the classic sci-fi TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, has passed away at the age of 82. He died after a short but intense battle with cancer.
The sad news was confirmed by his wife, Janet, who shared an emotional message on Facebook on Tuesday evening. In her post, she described Gerard as her soulmate and revealed that his illness progressed very quickly. She said that from the moment they realized something was wrong, only a few days passed before he died. Janet also urged people to cherish and love their loved ones deeply while they can.
Before his passing, Gil Gerard had written a personal message and asked his wife to share it after his death. In the statement, he reflected on his life with gratitude, calling it an incredible journey filled with meaningful experiences, love, and unforgettable people. He said his 82 years had been deeply fulfilling.

Born in 1943 in Little Rock, Arkansas, Gil Gerard began his career with commercials and small television roles in the 1970s. His big break came when he was cast as Captain William “Buck” Rogers, a role that made him a household name and secured his place in television history.
