Actor Peter Greene, widely recognized for his role in the hit action-comedy The Mask, has died at the age of 60.

According to reports, Greene was found unresponsive in his New York City apartment on Friday, December 12.

Police told The New York Post that his body was discovered inside his Clinton Street residence at approximately 3:25 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Greene’s manager of more than a decade, Greg Edwards, confirmed the actor’s passing and shared a heartfelt tribute. “Truly one of the great actors of our generation,” Edwards said. “His heart was as big as there was. I’m going to miss him. He was a great friend.”

Known for portraying intense and memorable villains throughout the 1990s, Greene appeared in notable films such as Pulp Fiction, The Mask, and Training Day. His film credits also include Laws of Gravity, Clean, Chevin, and Blue Streak.

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Greene had been preparing to begin filming a new thriller titled Mascots in January.

In a 1996 interview with Premier magazine, Greene revealed that he ran away from home at age 15 and spent time living on the streets of New York City, where he struggled with drug use before eventually turning his life around.
