Siddharth Anand, the director of Pathaan, talked openly about how he and Shah Rukh Khan came up with the idea for the movie and how it was planned before the release of War.

The recently released Shah Rukh Khan film Pathaan has become one of the biggest box office successes in recent Hindi film history. With his blockbuster picture, the gifted director Siddharth Anand solidified his position as the most commercially viable director in the current crop. After the 2019 smash War, which starred Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in key roles, this is Siddharth’s second appearance in the YRF spy world.

Siddharth Anand spoke candidly about the creation of the concept for Pathaan and said that it took place long before the publication of War.

Siddharth Anand admitted in his interview that he has always wanted to work with Shah Rukh Khan on a straight-up action movie. He also mentioned how long he had the concept of Pathaan in his head. However, the movie wasn’t intended to be made following War’s enormous success; instead, everything fell into place far in advance of the release of the movie’s teaser.

“This took place immediately before the publication of War. Before before the trailer was released, we were finishing up War’s post-production. Planning for Pathaan took place between June and July of the same year, and the war broke out in October of that same year. I informed Aditya Chopra in the early days of July that we should approach Shah Rukh Khan right away and that this is what I want to do next. I know he was looking for a movie at this particular moment, so why not take a chance? Shah Rukh Khan portrays the title character in Pathaan, the fourth entry in YRF’s spy series, an orphan who develops into one of the best RAW field officers in the nation. In the movie, Deepika Padukone played ISI agent Rubina Mohsin, the leading lady. The beloved antagonist Jim, a former RAW field officer who became pessimistic following a personal tragedy, was portrayed by John Abraham. The Pathaan crew has assured the media that a sequel to the project is planned.
