Hip-hop powerhouse Fetty Wap, the chart-topping star behind Trap Queen, has made a triumphant return to freedom after serving three years of a six-year federal prison sentence for drug trafficking.
The 34-year-old rapper stepped out of a low-security facility in Minnesota on Thursday, January 8, 2026, and will complete the remainder of his sentence under home confinement until November 8.
In a heartfelt message to fans, Fetty Wap expressed gratitude and determination: “I’m forever thankful to my family, friends, and fans for their unwavering support your love has been my anchor,” he said, radiating renewed energy.
Turning adversity into purpose, Fetty Wap revealed ambitious plans to empower at-risk youth. “I’m laser-focused on giving back through my foundation, expanding access to education, early tech skills, and vision care. It’s about equipping the next generation to rise, thrive, and own their destiny,” he shared with conviction.
Born Willie Junior Maxwell II, Fetty Wap was taken into custody in Queens, New York, in October 2021, just before a scheduled Rolling Loud NYC performance, following allegations of transporting large quantities of cocaine from California to Long Island.
He pled guilty in August 2022 to conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and was sentenced in May 2023.
Confirming his release on social media, the rapper posted a simple yet powerful “HOME” on Instagram Stories, signaling his dramatic comeback.
