Pakistani filmmaker Jamshed Mehmood, popularly known as ‘Jami’ was supporting the #Metoo campaign since its beginning and now he has revealed the reason behind it.
Jami said that he has been a very strong supporter of the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment because he had himself been subjected to rape 13 years ago.
In a series of tweets, Jami broke his silence on the traumas of his past, recalling how harassers get away with rape and sexual violence.
He wrote, “Why im so strongly supporting #metoo ? cuz i know exactly how it happens now, inside a room then outside courts inside courts and how a survivor hides confides cuz i was brutally raped by a very powerful person in our media world. A Giant actually. and yes im taller than him but.”

Earlier, Jami Mahmood has been vocal in his defense of victims of sexual harassment for the past year, ever since singer Meesha Shafi accused fellow artist Ali Zafar of harassment in April 2018.
Then Jami had taken another step, in a post on social media he vowed that his production company Azad Film will no longer work with any individual who supports those accused of sexual misconduct.
He joined the likes of model Eman Suleman who called out members of the entertainment industry for turning a blind eye to sexual harassment accusations concerning their peers.
Jami had also called out his peers from the industry for being complicit with harassment and having an issue with his sharing a survivor’s story.
