Backstreet Holiday has been canceled and that comedy reruns will now air on ABC in its place. The lawsuit against Nick Carter for sexual battery was filed on December 8, however, Michael Holtz, Carter’s attorney, has already refuted the claims in a statement.

Carter, along with bandmates AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell, and Howie Dorough, would have performed songs from their album “A Very Backstreet Christmas” in the special, which was scheduled to premiere on December 14. Additionally planned to come were Seth Rogen, Meghan Trainor, Rob Riggle, Nikki Glaser, Ron Funches, and Atsuko Okatsuka.

Shannon “Shay” Ruth, a plaintiff who has cerebral palsy and autism, accused Carter of sexual battery and intentionally and negligently causing mental distress in court records filed on December 8 and acquired by News. Ruth, who was 17 at the time, said in the lawsuit that Carter asked her onboard his tour bus after they met in the Backstreet Boys concert’s autograph line in February 2001.

According to the affidavits, Carter allegedly forced Ruth to have oral sex with him after bringing her to the bathroom. The musician allegedly continued to assault her sexually on a bed after that and would not allow her to get off the tour bus. In addition, the plaintiff claimed that she was a virgin before the meeting and that she had HPV as a result of it.

Later, Carter’s lawyer refuted the charges.

“This claim about an incident that supposedly took place more than 20 years ago is not only legally meritless but also entirely untrue,” Holtz said in a statement to E! News. “Unfortunately, for several years now, Ms. Ruth has been manipulated into making false allegations about Nick—and those allegations have changed repeatedly and materially over time.”

“No one should be deceived by a press stunt staged by an opportunistic lawyer,” Carter’s counsel continued. “There is nothing to this claim at all, as we have no doubt the courts will shortly understand.”
