Mahira Khan deactivates her Twitter account after the troll attack

  • March 7, 2020

Mahira Khan was hounded by trolls following all her recent tweets addressing the Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar-Marvi Sirmed controversy and Aurat March.

To the point where actress Mahira Khan have forced to deactivate her account.

Celebrities are no stranger to online trolls and their cyber-bullying.

Yet this time these trolls really pushed too far.

Mahira Khan’s account has now been restored.

She didn’t spill the tea on why her account deactivated.

I personally think it’s imperative that those that stand with the idea of standing up for your rights should write and speak with clarity. A lot gets lost when we try to match jahaaalat with jahaalat, abuse with abuse. There MUST be a difference.

— Mahira Khan (@TheMahiraKhan) March 4, 2020

I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen!! Sick to the core. This same man who abused a woman on tv is revered and given project after project because of what? We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking! #khalilurrehmanqamar

— Mahira Khan (@TheMahiraKhan) March 4, 2020

Many suspect it’s due to her being vocal about Aurat March, women’s rights and condemning Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar.

What these keyboard warriors do not realize is that the actress’s activism for women’s rights extends beyond Twitter.

Even if the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador does not share her views on why the Aurat March is important, she’ll still be doing all she can to support the cause.

The objective of this education is to preventing child abuse by proving awareness to a child and teaching them to report such cases.

In short teaching children the real meaning of ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi‘.

This is how one needs to come and explain a simple slogan on television. Thank you @NayabGJan 🙏🏼 #MeraJismMeriMarzi pic.twitter.com/uRyGK8HQVS

— Mahira Khan (@TheMahiraKhan) March 4, 2020

She also rallied with other public figures to have the ‘Zainab Bill’ for child abuse passed in Parliament.

I’m sure those who have been organizing the Aurat March are experienced, have been working for years for the cause of women..they have a better idea of what should and should not be done. I write out of pure observation. #WhyIMarch pic.twitter.com/D3AUQYM3Re

— Mahira Khan (@TheMahiraKhan) March 4, 2020

Plenty of netizens called out these trolls that forced Mahira Khan to temporarily deactivate her account.

While they all preach from their moral high grounds, they dropped their manners along the way.

Twitterati pointed out this is why we can’t have good things, and that’s due to our toxic attitude.

This makes me so upset honestly. Mahira Khan is probably the only person from the industry who is so vocal about every topic and she has never been harsh towards anyone. You guys don't deserve her.

— نور (@ihudaaa_) March 5, 2020

Mahira Khan deactivated her account because people can't respect an opinion here anymore. You all campaign for free speech but you start schooling instead of a respectful discourse. Good luck with recruiting for a cause with this sort of mental rigidity.

Mahira Khan speaks up on Aurat March 2020

“I’m sure those who have been organizing the Aurat March are experienced and have been working for years for the cause of women,” tweeted Mahira.

“They have a better idea of what should and should not be done. I write out of pure observation. #WhyIMarch,” she added.

In another tweet Mahira asked, “On a separate note. Why do we march? As a privileged woman I march for those who are not in my position, who don’t have the basic rights that I have enjoyed since I was born.”

The actress also stated, “We are a country getting used to the idea of Equal Rights, #MeToo, Times Up.

All of us, as those in a position of power and privilege, should speak a language that a common man would understand.

We don’t march for ourselves. We march for those who cannot march for themselves.”
