Mystery Inc. is about to step off the screen and into reality. Netflix has officially greenlit its first-ever live-action Scooby-Doo series, with cameras rolling in April 2026, marking a groundbreaking evolution for the beloved franchise.

Originally teased in March 2025, this adaptation reimagines Scooby-Doo for a new era, decades after the classic animated series and early-2000s live-action films. The show is being produced by Warner Bros.
Television in collaboration with Netflix, with Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg at the helm as showrunners under their Midnight Radio banner, and Greg Berlanti joining as executive producer.
While Netflix hasn’t officially revealed a title, production listings hint at Scooby-Doo: Origins, suggesting a fresh take on the gang’s formative adventures.

Set across eight episodes, the series transforms the familiar gang into a mystery-hunting squad in their final summer at camp. Shaggy and Daphne stumble into a puzzling case involving a lost Great Dane puppy, joined by Velma’s razor-sharp intellect and a mysterious new teen, Freddy.
Their investigation plunges them into a shadowy web of secrets and supernatural twists that challenges everything they thought they knew.
Departing from the franchise’s usual comedic tone, the series takes inspiration from Stranger Things, fusing supernatural suspense, emotional stakes, and darkly atmospheric storytelling, while staying true to Scooby-Doo’s adventurous spirit.

Filming will be based in Atlanta, Georgia, with production expected to run through late 2026. Casting remains under wraps, though reports indicate a search for authentic, age-appropriate actors to bring the teenage characters to life.
With production schedules in mind, the live-action Scooby-Doo series is expected to debut on Netflix in 2027, promising a thrilling, suspense-filled reinvention of a timeless franchise for a new generation.
