Prince Edward made a rare royal appearance at Dance Base in Scotland.
The Duke of Edinburgh visited Dance Base, Scotland’s National Centre for Dance, on August 14, 2026.
The Royal Family’s official Instagram account shared details of the visit on August 18.
The caption on the story read, “As Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh has visited Dance Base in Scotland.”
During his visit, Prince Edward met with dance artists during a rehearsal and learned more about how the charity supports the wider community.

The organization, based in Edinburgh, supports dance artists, international exchange students and community projects across its four studios. It aims to help more people experience the inspiration and empowerment that come through dance.
Dance Base was established in 1993 to promote all forms of dance. It was founded by Artistic Director Morag Deyes, who led the organization from 1994 to 2021.
The charity’s specially designed home in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket opened in 2001.
Prince Edward has served as a Royal Patron and supporter of Dance Base since June 24, 2025.
