In a striking fusion of noir sensibilities and superhero grandeur, Nicolas Cage returns to the Marvel universe in a way that promises to be unlike anything audiences have experienced before.
In a city where shadows conceal secrets and morality exists in shades of grey, every choice carries immense consequence, and the line between hero and human blurs.
Prime Video has released the first tantalizing trailer for Spider-Noir, presenting the series in a bold dual format both “authentic” black-and-white and vivid full colour, allowing viewers to experience the noir aesthetic in a modern cinematic context.
Cage embodies Ben Reilly, also known as The Spider, a jaded private investigator navigating the murky streets of 1930s New York, forced to reconcile with his past life as the city’s clandestine protector.
Viewers can catch Cage on MGM+’s linear broadcast channel on May 25, followed by a global release on Prime Video on May 27, offering fans the opportunity to binge the series at their leisure.
Spider-Noir, a live-action adaptation of the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, explores the psychological turmoil of a detective balancing his human vulnerabilities with the mantle of a superhero, in a narrative steeped in suspense, intrigue, and existential reflection.
In a chilling snippet from the trailer, Cage muses, “The ticks. Thoughts. Impulses. I managed to suppress them. Most of the time.” This line encapsulates the internal conflict and moral ambiguity that defines the series.
The ensemble cast also features Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, with Abraham Popoola, Brendan Gleeson, and Jack Huston in supporting roles.
Produced exclusively by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video, the first two episodes are directed and executive produced by Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag), bringing his signature blend of tension, wit, and emotional depth to the series.
With its inventive storytelling, striking visual style, and Cage’s enigmatic performance, Spider-Noir promises to redefine the superhero genre through the lens of noir sophistication.
