Coronavirus: Toll rise to six in Pakistan as Iran-returned man tested positive

Minister of State for Health Dr Zafar Mirza has confirmed the sixth case of Coronavirus in the country.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza further said while Tweeting that the patient is in clinically stable condition in Sindh and is being well taken care of.

According to the details, another coronavirus case was reported in Karachi on Thursday, pushing the total number of COVID-19 cases to three in Sindh and sixth in the country.

A 69-year-old man who returned from Iran on February 25 was tested positive in Karachi.

Earlier today, State Health Minister Dr Zafar Mirza said that to fight against coronavirus, every step in the country taken.

He has said that every possible step is being taken to cope with the Coronavirus.

He chaired a meeting of emergency core group in Islamabad today.

State Health Minister said the federal and provincial governments and other institutions are fully ready to meet the challenge and protect the people from this virus.

The Special Assistant said screening is being ensured at the airports and the ground routes.

He said seven hundred and sixty thousand passengers have so far screened.

He said separate rooms allocated in the hospitals.

Zafar Mirza said only five Coronavirus cases have so far reported in the country.

Earlier State Health Minister Dr Zafar Mirza has said that all five victims of Coronavirus in Pakistan are recovering.

He said this in a media talk.

Dr Zafar Mirza said More than 200 people suspected of having coronavirus tested.

He said we well prepared to fight the virus, no schools have been shut in federal capital.

Dr Zafar Mirza said due to the immediate actions taken by Pakistani government, Coronavirus did not spread as compared to other countries.

Automatic thermal scanners

Automatic thermal scanners installed at four airports of Pakistan to check the symptoms of coronavirus in the passengers arriving from abroad.

The scanners installed at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar.

Medical teams deployed at the airports have so far scanned more than 600,000 passengers arriving by international flights.

Schools in Sindh closed till March 13

It is pertinent to mention that all schools will remain closed till March 13, 2020.

Sindh Govt has decided to close all the schools of Sindh.
