Turkey’s president has threatened the Syrian government that it will “pay a very, very heavy price” for attacks that targeted Turkish soldiers in north-west Syria.

Turkish President has given a warning during a meeting in Ankara.

President said that he had discussed the ongoing Syrian situation with his military commanders. He will announce the next steps the army will take.

According to the international news agency, five troops were killed in Idlib province on Monday.

Turkish forces had struck several targets in retaliation. However, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, “It will continue.”

Syrian soldiers are about to regain full control of the main north-south highway of the country.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that they had driven Jihadist fighters and rebel from the last section of the M5 that they arranged west of Aleppo city.

M5 highway had not been controlled by the government. The highway connects Aleppo with Damascus and the border with Jordan.

It was reported yesterday that a government helicopter was shot down near the village of Nayrab, south-east of Idlib. The crew was killed.
