Singapore has introduced strict laws to promote social distancing during coronavirus outbreak that anybody offending the laws will be sent to jail for six months.

Sources say that those who do not keep at least one meter (3.2 feet) apart, or who meet in groups of more than 10 people outside of work or school, could be given six months’ imprisonment or could have to pay the fine of up to 10,000 Singapore dollars ($7,000).

The new measures were implemented from Friday in Singapore. The measures also included the same penalties for those who do not stay in their accommodation if given “Stay-Home Notice.”

The notices have been sent to certain inbound travelers and people with respiratory conditions marked by medical practitioners.

Note that Singapore reported 73 new cases on Wednesday. This was considered to be the largest one-day increase in Singapore.

The government has asked the employees to implement measures to lessen physical interaction between the workers and to promote work from home.
