New Zealand confirms first COVID 19 Death

New Zealand recorded its first death related to the new coronavirus on Sunday as the number of people infected with the virus rose by 63 in the country.

The woman, who authorities said had underlying health conditions, reportedly diagnosed with influenza on admittance to hospital. Furthermore The country has recorded a total of 514 cases.

The prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, said her thoughts were with the woman’s family. “Today’s death is a reminder of the fight that we have on our hands,” she said. “It also brings home exactly why we are taking such strong measures to stop the spread of this virus.
