Lebanese Prime Minister  Dr. Hassan Diab said Lebanon will not accept Israel’s continual violations of its territory  including to launch air attacks on Syria and Lebanon has called for UN support to protect Lebanon’s sovereignty.

Lebanese Prime Minister said “he sent complaints about Israel’s violation of Lebanese airspace to the United Nations Secretariat and the UN Security Council,” stressing “the need to end Israeli violations with the help of the Security Council.”

Dr. Hassan Diab said “Israeli aircraft breaching Lebanese airspace and launching missiles from Lebanese territory is not only a reprehensible violation and condemnation of Lebanese sovereignty, but a contempt for the United Nations Secretary-General’s call to stop armed conflicts and air strikes and dedicate efforts to address the coronavirus pandemic.”

Israel carries out daily violations of Lebanese airspace. In November last year the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, wrote in his UN Security Council report that between July and October 2019. Israel violated Lebanese airspace 787 times. Almost 200 times a month.

United Nations Secretary-General said in his statement “I reiterate my condemnation of all violations of Lebanese sovereignty and my calls for Israel to cease its violations of Lebanese airspace, and to expedite the withdrawal of its forces from northern Ghajar and the adjacent area north of the Blue Line.”

It is pertinent to mention here that the Blue Line is the border demarcation between Lebanon and Israel published by the UN in 2000 establishing that Israel had fully withdrawn from Lebanese territory.
