US Vice President Mike Pence in Self Isolation

United States Vice-President Mike Pence is now in self-isolation after an aide tested positive for the novel coronavirus last week. A Trump administration official said Mr Pence was voluntarily limiting his exposure and would work from home.

He has repeatedly tested negative for COVID-19 since his exposure but is following the advice of medical officials. Mr Pence was informed of the positive test on Friday, before he left Washington for a day-trip to Iowa.

It was reported that during a meeting with the governor of Texas in the Oval Office on Thursday (May 8), Donald Trump revealed that he had contact with man who infected by the virus. The sources said that people working around the president at the White House have been getting regular tests for the COVID-19.

The President said, “No matter what you do, testing is not a perfect art. So we test once a week.” He added, “Now we’re going to get tested once a day.”

US President Donald Trump declared the Coronavirus pandemic more destructive to the United States than the Pearl Harbor and 9/11 attacks.

Let it be known that On Friday, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended efforts to protect Mr Trump and Mr Pence, pointing to measures taken by the White House including contact tracing and putting in place all guidelines recommended for essential workers.

In addition to this, if Mr Trump and Mr Pence – who are Republicans – were both to become incapacitated, Democratic House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi would assume presidential duties.
