On Saturday America’s president, Donald Trump said he would announce new visa restrictions within a few days to block the entry of certain foreign workers and help save Americans struggling with a job market devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While telling an international news channel, Trump said,

“We’re going to be announcing something tomorrow or the next day on the visas.”

He went on to say,

“You need them for big businesses where they have certain people that have been coming in for a long time, but very little exclusion and they’re pretty tight, and we may even go very tight for a period of time.”

Trump declined to provide more information regarding the visa restrictions as he will be announcing them soon.

Many critics have said Trump is using this pandemic ti fulfill his longstanding goal of limiting immigration into the United States of America. His tough stance on immigration is central to his electoral stance as he runs for re-election.

Many major American companies have requested Trump, especially in the tech sector, to refrain from blocking the flow of foreign workers into the country as it would hurt America’s economy.

Trump’s new action would be his latest step to restrict immigration in response to the pandemic and economic fallout.

In April, he ordered a temporary block on some foreigners from permanent residence in the United States.
