Massive Fire erupts in Ajman Market, Casualties Feared

Hours after battling the blaze, a huge fire that broke out in the market of the Ajman area in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been brought under control.

According to official reports, the fire broke out at 6:30 pm local time in the emirate’s new industrial area in Ajman, which is some 50 km away from Dubai.

However, the blaze had been brought under control in three hours and no casualties have been reported.

Ajman firefighters have cordoned off the site and used water and foam in extinguishing the blazes which have broken out in many shops therein.

According to Major General Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the Ajman Police “Civil Defence units and 25 police and ambulance vehicles responded immediately, reaching the incident site within three minutes and were able to isolate neighbouring buildings and bring the fire under control,” said Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi.

The fire incident in Ajman has come less than 24 hours after a huge explosion rattled Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon.

The explosion’s shock waves smashing deep into the city and killed at least 100 and injured more than 3,000 people.
