KABUL: A car bomb blast in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province has killed 15 people, including international umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari.

According to the foreign news agency, a car bomb blast in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province has killed at least 15 people, including Afghanistan’s international umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari, and injured 30 others.

Afghan officials stated that the attackers wanted to enter the district governor’s compound, but the car was blown up when guards stopped them.

Local media reported that children were among the dead and injured, while Obaidullah Shinwari, a member of the Nangarhar provincial council, confirmed that eight civilians had also been killed in the terrorist attack.

On the other hand, former media manager of Afghanistan Cricket Board Ibrahim Momand has also said in a tweet that Afghanistan’s international umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari has also died in the blast.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the car bomb blast, but the Afghan government has blamed the Taliban, the report said.

Note that the bomb blast occurred in a time talks are being held between the Afghan government and Taliban.
