The United Nations’ World Food Programme declared as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for the agency’s “efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war”.

“For its effort to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict,” announced the Nobel Prize Committee on Twitter.

Earlier, The 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to the American poet Louise Glück for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal.

The American poet Louise Glück was born in 1943 in New York and lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Moreover, apart from her writing, she is a professor of English at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.

She made her debut in 1968 with Firstborn and later acclaimed as one of the most prominent poets in American contemporary literature. She has received several prestigious awards, among them the Pulitzer Prize (1993) and the National Book Award (2014).
