The Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready to recognize Joe Biden as the USA’s President until the winner is formally decided.

Putin affirmed that Russia is all set to work with anyone who has America’s trust and confidence. While talking on Russian state TV, Putin said,

“But that confidence can only be given to a candidate whose victory has been recognized by the opposing party, or after the results are confirmed in a legitimate, legal way.”

It was one of the most detailed remarks of Putin since the US elections, as he is one of the few leaders who haven’t accepted Biden as the new US head of state.

When asked if the new change could damage US-Russia relations, the Russian President replied,

“There’s nothing to damage, they’re already ruined.”

It is pertinent to mention here that US intelligence agencies accused Russia of intervening in 2016 to help Trump win the US Presidential Elections. The country has been circumspect of Biden as the country fears an increase in sanctions pressure and clashes over human rights.
