On Friday, Saudi Arabia’s interior ministry has decided to lift the temporary travel ban by the end of March which was imposed to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to the details, the decision will come into force on March 31ss, 2021, however, it will have certain measures.

The Saudi citizens will be allowed to travel anywhere outside the Kingdom and return easily when the ban eases, said the KSA interior ministry.

Secondly, the temporary ban on international flights will be lifted with all air, sea, and land borders will reopen.

The ban will be lifted in accordance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent COVID-19 spread and the precautions laid down by the concerned committee.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia had decided to extend a ban on entry to the Kingdom by air, land, and sea for another week.

As per the details, the Ministry of Interior said in an official statement that the decision was a precautionary measure against the spread of the new variant of COVID-19, which had been detected in several countries.

The statement also mentioned that exceptional cases would be exempted from the entry ban, and non-Saudi citizens are allowed to leave the Kingdom.

It added that the ministry is assessing the current situation and suspension of travel could be further extended, if necessary.

It is pertinent to mention that a new variant of coronavirus has emerged in the United Kingdom, and has spread in several countries.
